In addition to titanium dental implants, Dr. Paul Mathew, offers ceramic (zirconia) dental implants for patients who are allergic to the titanium and metals used in conventional dental implants. The ceramic dental implants are such a powerful alternative that even patients who are not allergic to metal seek them out for their cosmetic properties.
Do you suffer from metal allergies?
Dr. Paul Mathew uses the Zirkolith® ceramic dental implant from Z-Systems. Not only are the dental implants themselves made of the extremely durable zirconia ceramic, but even the tools used to place the implant are ceramic in order to ensure that there’s no patient discomfort as a result of the metal allergies.
Are you worried about gum discoloration from implants?
Another great feature of ceramic implants is that their light color doesn’t show through thinning gums or bone. Patients with receding gums or low bone volume may find that titanium implants darken the color of their gums slightly as the color of the metal is revealed through the gums. With ceramic dental implants, however, the light color of the implant prevents this dark coloration from appearing on the gums, resulting in a very natural look.
If you have concerns about metal allergies or gum discoloration from dental implants, don’t hesitate to give us a call at either our Newburyport or Salem dental offices for a complementary consultation. We’d be more than happy to help you find out what dental treatment matches your needs best.
