Of course, you won’t find it surprising that Newburyport is home to some pretty amazing seafood. Lobster, oysters, haddock, octopus, clams and any number of other regional marine offerings can be found in a variety of settings. Try the lobster rolls at Starboard Galley Restaurant, take a fried clam break at Park Lunch or enjoy the view from the deck at Michael’s Harborside Restaurant and Bar.
For a more upscale seafood experience, venture out to Brine. The State Street foodie destination offers everything from crudo to caviar, as well as the charcuterie options that have become so popular in 2015. Ceia Kitchen and Bar is another high-end State Street restaurant where you can find fabulous seafood. Revered for their rock crab, Ceia offers lobster, hake, octopus, cod and mussels alongside classic French-influenced meat dishes.
Although seafood is the star here, Newburyport is also home to a diverse range of restaurants offering ethnic and classic American food. Burgers, truffle fries and craft beers satisfy cravings for hearty 2015 American fare at Lexie’s on State. The Jewel and the Crown and Mr. India Restaurant serve up sumptuous Indian meals, while those seeking top-notch Italian food flock to Andiamo Restaurant and BarGiuseppe’s Fresh Pasta & Fine Food, where traditional Italian temptations are served at one of a few tables or for takeout.
While it would be impossible to list the entirety of great restaurants in Newburyport in 2015, we can only suggest that you get out and try as many as possible. Another great way to sample the impressive variety of tasty foods available this September is a foodie tour. Bon appetit!
