Three Questions to Ask About Dental Implants Before You Ask About Cost

One of the first questions about dental implants we hear at our Salem or Newburyport dental offices is “How much do dental implants cost?”. While this is an important question to ask, it’s not the first one that should be asking. Questions that can demonstrate quality of dental implant treatment should be far more important. After all, what good are cheap dental implants if they fail or lead to complications?

Here are three other questions you could be asking about dental implant treatment instead:

How many dental implants has the dentist placed?
Generally a dentist that has placed more dental implants has more experience in implant placement is likely to do a better job. Of course that doesn’t tell the whole story. This is where the second question comes in.

What’s the implant success rate of the dentist?
In addition to a dentist that has placed many dental implants, you should be looking for one who’s placed many of them successfully. Factors such as choosing the right dental implant system and making sure the implants are placed in adequate bone can determine the success of treatment.

Are the dental implants placed with the aesthetics of the final restoration in mind?
Even if a dental implant is anchored securely in the jaw and heals properly, it could be problematic if it’s placed in a way that doesn’t interact well with the implant restoration that’s placed on it. Look for a patient smile gallery to see if the dentist’s sense of aesthetics is aligned with yours.

On top of all this you want to see a dentist that stands behind their work. For example Dr. Mathew offers a 5-year warranty on the work he performs since he’s confident in his abilities.

If you’re looking for dental implant treatment that you can count on don’t hesitate to give Artisan Dentistry a call at either the Newburyport, MA or Salem, NH dental offices.
